What's new at QSAC
August 15th 2007

During a potentially deadly situation, Ishuah James (Habilitation Specialist) and Ronica Dumas (Assistant Manager of the ICF) exercised great courage and determination to ensure the safety of four consumers. While driving from a mall, shopping for the ICF, the van mysteriously started smoking and burst into flames. Mr. James as the driver and Ms Dumas as the matron tried to do what any other person would have done - stop the van and evacuate. When Mr. James attempted to stop the van, he realized that there were no brakes. He immediately pulled over and they jumped out while the van was still moving. The only thing on their minds was to get the consumers out of the van before it exploded. Because of their heroics, none of the consumers were hurt and they escaped any injury. They are our Employees of the Month for thinking of the consumers first in such a frightening situation.

QSAC HEALTH TIPS

WATER
Special from Bottom Line/Health

About 20% of Americans drink no water, and 42% drink only two glasses or less daily. Inadequate water intake causes a decrease in total blood volume, constriction of blood vessels and an increase in blood pressure.

The average adult needs almost 100 ounces of water daily. About one-third of this comes from the water contained within food. This means that most people need at least eight eight-ounce glasses of water daily.

Recommendation: Spring water that is naturally rich in minerals or that has minerals added, particularly magnesium. Magnesium is an alkaline mineral that relaxes blood vessels and helps lower blood pressure. If you don’t like water, try juices or herbal teas.
