QSAC HEALTH TIPS
 FISH OIL Special
from Bottom
Line/Health
Two of the
fats in fish -- eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid
(DHA) -- reduce risk of atherosclerosis. Fish oil makes platelets less
sticky, increasing blood flow.
Recommendation: Two
to three servings of fish a week. Best choices: Mackerel, trout and
salmon.
Large fish, such as tuna, often have higher
levels of mercury than smaller species. To reduce mercury exposure, eat
a variety of fish, not a single type.
Or take
supplements. Most manufacturers screen out mercury and other heavy
metals. The recommended dose is three grams of fish oil daily. Strict
vegetarians may want to use flaxseed oil or hemp oil (one tablespoon or
usually three capsules, twice a day). |

During
a potentially deadly situation,
Ishuah James (Habilitation Specialist) and Ronica Dumas
(Assistant Manager of the ICF) exercised great courage and
determination to ensure the safety of four consumers. While driving
from a mall, shopping for the ICF, the van mysteriously started smoking
and burst into flames. Mr. James as the driver and Ms Dumas as the
matron tried to do what any other person would have done - stop the van
and evacuate. When Mr. James attempted to stop the van, he realized
that there were no brakes. He immediately pulled over and they jumped
out while the van was still moving. The only thing on their minds was
to get the consumers out of the van before it exploded. Because of
their heroics, none of the consumers were hurt and they escaped any
injury. They are our Employees of the Month for thinking of the
consumers first in such a frightening situation.
