Continuing Education Opportunities at QSAC


John F. Kennedy Jr. Institute for Worker Education at CUNY – Supports workforce development initiative in health and human services

  • In 1989, John F. Kennedy, Jr. started the Kennedy Fellows program for exemplary workers in health, education, and human services occupation. Primarily designed for workers that live in New York and attend a City University of New York (CUNY) or State University of New York (SUNY) school. The program is designed to help professionalize the frontline workforce and to support the higher education and career advancement of exemplary staff. Fellowship recipients receive scholarships and career mentoring. QSAC is a founding participant.

Professionals for Tomorrow (NYS OMRDD & SED)

  • Covers tuition, fees, and books for Spring and Fall semesters
  • Up to 9 credits per semester
  • Annual Max $2016

Teacher Certification Funds (Funded by SED)

  • Funding for Uncertified Teachers for tuition costs, test fees, test preparation fees..

Teacher Retention Fund (Funded by SED)

  • Annual funding provided to teachers in the school age program. The amount provided per agency is decided by SED through a formula based on student enrollment. We gave $300 to each teacher in the 2006/2007 school year.

Tuition Reimbursement as per QSAC policy

  • Covers the cost of tuition at CUNY rate for 1 course/semester (Fall and Spring only)
  • Must directly relate to employee’s job and/or QSAC mission

Anita Smith Scholarship fund

  • Offers $1000 grant to a deserving college student (currently attending) and working with Autis
  • Enrolled in a Human Services Field (Spec Ed, Psychology, Sociology, etc.
